Praktisk Solidaritet

Praktisk Solidaritet invites you to a Film screening, free lunch and discussion on activism and democratic engagement in Europe.

The event will be in English.

FILM   People passionate about local organising, democracy, the climate and human rights in Slovakia, Cyprus and Sweden have created a film that, in various ways, highlights stories from a civil society seeking to bring about change and contribute to democratic resilience and development, in a Europe where core democratic values are under threat. The film is produced as part of the Erasmus-project Co-Lab: Resilience

PANEL   In the subsequent panel discussion, we will explore different perspectives on resilience in civil society together with the project’s European participants and representatives from academia and the cultural sector.

Panel discussion featuring, among others:

Dominika Vergara Polanska, Professor of Social Work at Södertörn University, who leads Sustain Action – an international programme researching civil society resilience in crises, with a focus on housing issues, climate and inequality in Sweden and Eastern Europe.

Manuell Tony is an Indian director based in Stockholm, Sweden. Ever since he made his first film at the age of 15, he has maintained a steady pace in his storytelling. His work explores human-centred narratives with a keen eye for thoughts, emotions and the strange beauty of simply being.

A project participant from each country (Slovakia, Cyprus and Sweden) will also be part of the panel.
